ABC’s of Decorating: Z is for zebra
It seems fitting that the last post of the year is also the last letter of the alphabet. And zebra print has been seen all over town in fabrics, rugs, wallpaper, artwork and accessories. Like all animal prints, a little zebra goes a long way so use it carefully. Here is a sampling of some of the zebra products on the market.
- Zebra rugs: These small rugs will add a touch of graphic interest and sophistication to many areas of your home. Place one under the bed in a guest room or in front of the desk in a home office. Many young boys (and girls) would love to have a zebra rug in their room. It is so “cool”!
- Zebra wallpaper: I know this sounds a bit crazy but in a powder room it makes quite an impact. This paper by Scalamandre (courtesy of elle decor) will make a visit to the potty unforgettable.
3. Zebra print fabrics can be found in many different colors. Try something unique like pink zebra in a teen’s room or a vibrant orange zebra print on the sunroom furniture. If something a bit more traditional is to your liking, consider beautiful black and gold zebra or a rich mahogany zebra print.
4. Artwork and accessories featuring a zebra motif or print are appearing on wine glasses, wood carvings, lamp bases and shades, foot stools, dishware and linens.
Going to the zoo is no longer just for kids and using a zebra print in your home decor has grown up as well. You might enjoy the bold pop of color and pattern this exotic print will add to your home.
