Classic Shell Tops

Ready, Set, Sew! Shell tops are great beginner’s projects.

The sleeveless shell top is a classic fashion must have.  These easy to make blouses are just perfect for hot summer weather.  Make them casual in knits and cotton prints or dressy in silk, satin, georgette or chiffon.

Amy Butler cotton fabrics are great for summer clothes.

Shell tops with no embellishment are a perfect project for beginning sewers.  More advanced beginners may want to try their hand at embellishments such as ruffles and bows.  Very simple shell tops feature only two pattern pieces and require only shoulder seams, side seams, and a hem around the neckline, the hemline and the armholes.  Other shell patterns have easy-to-sew self-facings at the neck and armholes.
