Décor and apparel fabric can make lovely organizers.

Cottons such as Amy Butler prints are ideal for lightweight  organizers, such as jewelry organizers, sewing organizers, and garment bags.  They also make lovely sewing machine covers, and pin cushions. Lightweight décor fabrics can also be ideal.

Decisions, decisions! Organizers can be made from an array of fabulous décor fabrics.

Heavier fabric is needed for organizers made for heavier items, such as shoes. Many types of apparel and décor fabrics are great for such projects.

Ticking fabric is a sturdy, attractive material for organizers.  This striped material was once used primarily for pillows and mattresses: today ticking is also used for stylish upholstery.  Modern ticking comes in many color combinations.  It is easy to sew and will last for many years.

Canvas is another fine choice when you need a heavier fabric for your organizer project.  Denim also lends itself well to items such as shoe racks and pocket organizers for the back of vehicle seats.
