Pillows in the Making

I’ve had more time to sew lately and I wanted to share with you some photos of my projects in the beginning stages.

I am using lovely Amy Butler fabrics along with some Amy Butler patterns
that can be downloaded for free.

Here is the Hour Glass Pillow in the making; this pattern is one of Amy’s own designs.

This little pink kitten is taken from the “Birdie the Cat, AKA Cozy Kitten” pattern designed by Jacob Redinger, an associate of Amy’s. I am not so keen on the face in the pattern design, so I am going to embroidery one of my own.

  1. I like the Amy Butler fabric for the hour glass pillow a lot. Curious to see how the cat looks with the face. I am starting to sew again, too. I found pillows I made over 30 years ago and they are just perfect, with zippers and piping. I am glad I kept them and that I am going to make things, I feel some creativity coming on. Good luck with your projects.

  2. I want to order some monkls cloth but I had a bad experience with the last order. Monks cloth needs to be clip and then pull the string out and then you have a straight line in order to cut it straight. I love the blue pastel shade. I had to waste close 8 inches so my yard end of being 1/2 yard Help!!!

  3. Hi Sharon,

Sorry about your bad experience. Yes, monk’s cloth and other loosely woven fabric can be tricky to cut. Try measuring each selvage side; mark each with a clip and then use a ruler and a sharp rotary cutter to achieve an even edge. Also please feel free to contact customer service if you feel there was problem with the way the fabric was cut for your order (888) 724-1705.
