School Draws Near

I don’t know about you, but this has seemed like an extremely short summer.  It will soon be time for the kiddos to hit the books again.

Are you planning any sewing projects for back school or have you already made some back to school clothes for those special young ones?  We’d love to see your back to school projects.  Upload your comments and photos to share with our readers.

It is not only the smaller  set that enjoy homemade back to school items. College students appreciate home sewn accessories for back to school.  Unique, home sewn backpacks, laptop cases,  tote bags, and purses are just some of the items a college student would enjoy.

Sewn items to decorate the dorm are fun to make.  Try curtains or simple pillows if you are new to sewing. More advanced sewers may want to try making a quilt in school colors, with the school logo.

If you don’t sew you can still make some cool dorm room accessories.  Fleece makes colorful, easy non-sewn throws.  Textured minky is another fun dorm room choice for throws. Fleece and minky dot also make wonderful, no-sew neck scarves.

Fabric dorm room art is easy to make. All you need are fabric and wood frame pieces to stretch it on. You can also make these Love and Peace signs with Amy Butler fabric.
