This fantastic, unbleached acrylic gesso primed canvas is a perfect choice for artists everywhere! Stiff, heavy duty, and 100% cotton, it's, well, a blank canvas! It's ready to stretch and transform into a masterpiece, just add artist! Because natural cotton canvas will absorb paint so readily, it's important to prime it before applying your medium. But priming, although a necessary step, certainly isn't all that exciting or fun. So skip the boring part! Grab some of this pre-primed canvas and let your imagination go wild! Because it's sturdy, offers an alluring texture, and has an easy-to-care-for nature, many people are branching out from simply using it for artwork. Transform your home with canvas by using it in upholstery projects, or as a unique, simple, and awesome wall or floor covering!

Why did you choose this?
If we were to use this canvas as a walk covering, what type of adhesive do I need to use to attach it to the wall?
BEST ANSWER: You're probably better off stapling or nailing this fabric to a wall if you're going to be marking on it rather than attaching it with an adhesive.
Does the primed canvas come on a roll or folded? If folded, does this create crease marks?
BEST ANSWER: I'm not certain how it comes but I've purchased canvas at art stores in rolls that don't have cardboard tubes inside. When I open the to start stretching my canvas I typically wouldn't stretch it all at once so I'll fold the leftover. When I go to use it again sometimes it will have wrinkles but after stretching and painting they are not visible. If any other artist believes this isn't ok to do please correct this post. I've never had a problem with it though in 30 years of painting.
Is this fabric - pre-shrunk?
BEST ANSWER: This canvas is not pre-shrunk before the gesso is applied. While we wouldn't suggest washing it, if you want to, you should test washing a smaller piece first.
What is this used for?
BEST ANSWER: Use it for acrylic painting, can also use it for oil paintings
its by the yard but how wide is it?
BEST ANSWER: As it says, it is 60 inches wide (5 feet wide).
Anyone use it for a floor cloth?
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I was commissioned to create an angle circle. I painted two layers of acrylic paints on top of the gesso, varnished it, and then backed the 4 foot circle with waterproof ripstop and sewed the pieces together at the edges with seam binding. This was not designed to be walked on, but without shoes, one could do that without too much damage, I believe.
If I buy 5 yards what is the measurements be would the canvas be 58"x15'?
BEST ANSWER: That's correct.

BEST ANSWER: Just one side has gesso.
is this canvas waterproof? I would like to paint a dayshade / tent

This will be a great addition to my "art works" - stretching this canvas for an extra large painting with acrylics. The canvas is thick enough and the surface is smooth with the gesso.
