Why did you choose this?
Is the laminate on the front or back of this fabric? Can you use for tablecloth with damaging the burlap?
BEST ANSWER: The back of the burlap is laminated. The backing makes it more stable and less likely to snag, but it also makes it stiffer, which wouldn't drape as well for a tablecloth. You can order a sample if you want to get a better feel of the fabric.
I am looking for a burlap backing for tufting a fainting couch with a gently curved arm. The burlap needs to be stiff but pliable enough to curve over the arm. Is this the burlap I've been searching for?
BEST ANSWER: You could try using this, however sagless burlap is more commonly used in upholstery applications.
Has anyone upholstered a table with this?
Since this burlap is laminated on the back could it be trimmed to an 8.5 x 11 size to be sent through an ink jet printer to be printed on?
BEST ANSWER: Personally, I don't think I would send this through my ink jet home printer. Perhaps if you had access to a commercial printer, this might work. The laminated burlap is thicker than the heaviest cardstock, plus the ends would not be perfectly smooth and straight, therefore it might get caught up in your printer. (my opinion only)
I have used another brand of laminated burlap from a craft store to embroider on, and then sew onto felt. Is this particular fabric suitable for this? The weave appears to be rather loose for small needlework...
BEST ANSWER: yes, you can use this burlap on your embroidery machine as I have made garden flags and they came out fantastic. This was the reason why I purchased this product. The embroidery machine I use is an EPIC and I did change the needles frequently to prevent any issues. Happy crafting.
is the fabric washable or can it be spot cleaned ? Is it safe to use as a table runner ie.. any chemicals you wouldnt want touching a plate ?
BEST ANSWER: It should be spot cleaned or hand washed in cold water. It would work well as a table runner, but I would not recommend washing it in a machine.
is this suitable for machine embroidery, or does the laminate gum up the needle?
BEST ANSWER: I appliquéd and free motion stitched on this with a home machine and it was fine. Very durable, as well. Quite stiff though which was ok for my application.
Can you please tell me if I order one yard what is the exact size of the fabric ? Is it 36” x 60” = 1 yard ? thank you
BEST ANSWER: That's correct. When cutting, we may give you slightly more than 36 inches to avoid shorting the customer, so it may not be exactly 36 inches.
Does the white laminate block light? I am hoping to get a stable burlap that lets light through when used as a simple basement window covering.
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the laminate blocks light.
Can this be used for DIY printable projects that are all over Pinterest? Will it feed through a printer if cut down to size?
BEST ANSWER: We haven't had any one ask about that specific use so we aren't quite sure how to answer. You could order a sample and try it out but we can't guarantee it will work.
Does this cut without fraying or does it require a stitched edge?
BEST ANSWER: because of the laminate it will not fray if cut.
Do you have cotton fabric.?
BEST ANSWER: Sure, we have a lot of cotton fabric. What sort of thing are you looking for?
I want this for shade outdoors in full sun, will it hold up in the Florida weather?
BEST ANSWER: This fabric is not designed to withstand extended periods of outdoor use.
Is the polyethylene laminate clear or white?
BEST ANSWER: The laminate is white.
Can I use 3m #77 adhesive to mount this product to a background panel?
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this would likely work well.
Like February's question, I'm considering using outdoors as panels though my application would not have direct sun. I assume that the fabric is still porous (so not waterproof) and would allow airflow despite the laminate. Are those good assumptions? Also, is the weave tight enough that it would give similar 'privacy' as sheer curtains ... allowing observer to see shapes but not clearly?
BEST ANSWER: The laminate backing is actually white and opaque, so you wouldn't be able to see through it. It is waterproof. We recommend ordering a sample if you want to see it in person.
Would this fabric be suitable as a wall backdrop for framed pictures? I would like the finished size to be approximately 4 x 6.
BEST ANSWER: I don't see a reason why not. We recommend ordering a sample to be sure that it will work for your project.
Would this make a good table runner to do machine embroidery on?
BEST ANSWER: We'd say no. The laminate might ruin the needle.
Is the laminated burlap too stiff for window panels?
BEST ANSWER: The laminated side won't allow the curtains to drape very well. You might have better luck using plain burlap.
