8 gauge vinyl is equal to how many mil ?
A shopper on Sep 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This vinyl is 0.008" (±5%) thick, which is approximately 8 mil.
which thickness of clear vinyl would be best for cold weather window covers 6 or 8 gauge?
A shopper on Nov 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm sure either one would serve fine. I got the 8 gauge because I had screened areas about 52" x 20' to cover, and I wanted something quite sturdy. This vinyl is *great*! I cut it to size, then applied velcro stick-on tape to the wooden frames around the screened areas, and also to the vinyl. It is keeping my very open porch warm, and the vinyl is so clear that it really is like a good glass pane!
is the 8mil clear enough to use as windows on screened in porch?
A shopper on Sep 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I think so, it is flexable to work with and clear enough to see thru the winter, does not yellow. small stapler work well to secure it. have fun
how wide is it?
A shopper on Oct 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 54" wide

Good product with some nice features for ease of use!
I am using this clear, vinyl sheeting to partially Winterize a screened sleeping porch. I am using cut rectangles of the clear vinyl to cover open screen areas during the cold weather.

The vinyl sheeting is working well--and because it is sturdy and carefully rolled with a grid backing, it is easy to measure and cut straight. The grid-marked backing tissue is a very useful and handy feature.

The self-stick velcro tape I am using to attach the vinyl to the screen frames adheres very tightly--and immediately!--to the vinyl. If using something like this velcro tape on your sheeting, be sure to position the tape carefully before removing the backing and letting the sticky side of the tape touch the vinyl!

As for delivery and packaging of the product: The roll of vinyl came fairly promptly, and it was well protected in a tubular, heavy, grey, plastic bag. This packaging was not too difficult to open. The bag was taped with shipping tape, which, when it was cut with scissors, opened easily, and the roll of clear vinyl sheeting slid out without any struggle!

Response from OnlineFabricStore
The higher number the gauge, the thicker it is. The standard thickness for 8 gauge clear vinyl is 0.008" (±5%). Thickness is sometimes referred to in mils, which is different from gauge. We suggest ordering a sample for anyone unsure of what gauge they want.
