Why did you choose this?
If I use this fabric for slipcovers, would I be able to wash them in cool water and hang to dry without having them shrink to the point they wouldn't fit the cushions?
BEST ANSWER: DEFINITELY pre-wash it and zig-zag stitch around the unfinished edges before washing. If you don't, you'll end up with a shredded mess! If you put it in with anything else, include a couple of Color Catchers because it is almost certainly going to bleed. Any dark-colored cotton fabric will, especially reds, dark blues and blacks.
Could you make a dress with this fabric?
BEST ANSWER: This fabric might be too heavy and stiff for a dress. We recommend ordering a sample to be sure that it will work for your project.
This is lovely fabric. I bought it for a valance project and it's perfect - not too light but not too heavy either. The color is vibrant and true.

The navy blue cotton canvas fabric is STRONG and that is what I needed. I used it as a cover over firm foam rubber (1.5" x 28"x 72") to raise and support the cushions on our couch. Project turned out great and we have our couch for many more years.
Also to have found a 72" heavy duty zipper was "icing on the cake".

used to valences
I loved this sturdy fabric to make valences for my son's room. It is a lovely color. I trimmed it with lime green grosgrain ribbon.
