ACA Blue Ticking fabric is a tightly woven and heavy weight cotton fabric that was originally used to make mattress and pillow covers. The thickness of ticking fabric makes it possible to use many types of stuffing such as feather or down without worrying about annoying and uncomfortable "pokes" through the fabric. This sturdy, basic stripe ticking fabric can be used to upholster furniture or make slipcovers to protect furniture from young kids and pets. It is perfect for use in a room that receives a lot of "abuse" such as a game room or dorm room. The standard navy blue and off white striped pattern coordinates with many other patterns and colors. Crafters will love the sturdiness of ACA Blue Ticking fabric when making tote bags, hampers, or laundry bags.

I needed a sturdy ticking to replace a worn shower curtain. There was nothing available in the local chain fabric store. In fact the "ticking" they now carry is a poor substitute - flimsy, and not at all what I would consider ticking. I'm excited to find this so easily online and look forward to its arrival.

I plan to use this fabric for leaders on my Nolting longarm frame. The woven stripes will guarantee that the fabric will be cut on the straight of grain and easily be lined up on the poles.

I am making a line of pillows with this type fabric. I didn't want a light fabric, and this fabric is described as heavy. This is by far the best price I have seen, and with free shipping, I am a very happy sewer.

What is the thread count?
A shopper on Jun 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: because it's a twill - it's difficult to count threads 1" across, 1' - I do know it's about 6 weight after laundering. I love it - wears well.
What is the weight of this fabric? Thank you.
A shopper on Jun 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 0.42 lbs/yd.
I am covering a cot mattress. Is the 32 inch measure including the self edge?
A shopper on Mar 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 32" is the usable width, the selvage adds about 1/4" - 1/2" more to the total width depending on the roll.
Can you please confirm that this ticking is woven & NOT printed? Also, what is the weight & approximate shrinkage % of this fabric. I want to use for chair slipcovers in childs room-- plan to wash fabric prior to getting to upholsterer-- want to be sure I order enough yardage. Many thanks!
A shopper on Mar 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this ticking is woven, not printed. It's 7 ox per square yard. We don't currently have an official shrinkage percentage from the manufacturer, but according to a customer it shrunk about 1.5 inches per yard (about 4%).
I am making cushions for wicker chairs, and I am trying to match some ticking fabric that I already have. Is the blue on this fabric a navy or a more of a royal blue color?
A shopper on Mar 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's a navy blue. We suggest ordering a sample if you want to be sure it matches.
Is this made in the USA?
Tom F on Feb 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: While this fabric is not made in the US, it is woven in Pakistan and processed in the States.
Can I use it as napkins to dry hands after wading?
A shopper on Dec 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: i would choose another fabric. this one is pretty thick and stiff and doesn't drape well. i ended up just hemming the ends and use it as a table runner.

ACA Blue Ticking - omg how I loved it!
Washed it in cool water and dryed it and ironed it - there was some shrinking, but my 15 yards ordered completed a camel back sofa. I cannot attach photo, as it is on my cell phone; will send it later. My neighbors love it!

Indeed ticking stripe has moved on - from its initial use as mattress cover, to kitchens, and is now being used by top designers, in the living rooms of the smartest homes. Go to your local Ethan Allen store - a great chair upholstered in black and white ticking stripe is right in their reception area. It is stunning.
