Fabric and home decor DIY products

We all know that beautiful fabric is the backbone of any home decor project.  You often choose paint colors, accessories and even artwork to “match” the fabric used in the room.  There are many do it yourself (DIY) projects that can make good use of your favorite fabric and/or remnants and what better time to work on these projects than during the slow and wintry days of January!  Check these out and let me know what you think:

Deryn Relph creates fun and colorful accent pillows from trim and fabric remnants.  Lesson learned is never throw anything away, no matter how small the remnant might be.

A beautiful table skirt will warm up a chilly entry way or add spring like color to your next family meal or even a bedside table, and is a simple DIY project for just about anyone.  Renowned designer, Celerie Kemble, adds beautiful trim to this entry way table.  Better Homes and Gardens offers a simple tutorial for a table skirt.

How about a colorful quilt or throw for those lazy afternoons when you actually have the time to sit and read a good book.  (oh how I long for such a day!)  Choose a simple style that allows you to use yards of your favorite fabric or choose an easy design that will make good use of all those remnants that have been piling up like this colorful one from House Beautiful.  Notice the use of this year’s color of the year, Tangerine Tango.  You can learn more about this color here.

So what is your favorite fabric or DIY project?
