Home Decor: Can U spot the trends? (2)

I hope all of you love this “game” as much as I do.  As a designer I enjoy looking at photos of beautiful, or not so beautiful, rooms and trying to figure out what the designer was thinking or trying to accomplish.  Anytime a new trend is introduced it is a sure bet that every designer out there will try to use it in some way or another.  I guess that’s what makes it a trend.  I must admit, I do tire of seeing the same trend time and again but am comforted by the fact that it will soon go out of style due to over-exposure.  The lesson to learn is to be careful when incorporating “trends” into your design.

Check out these photos and see if you can spot the trends.

Burlap and used burlap bags are a very big trend in design these days. I personally enjoy the rough texture and “green” (reuse and recyle) aspect of this trend

How about this one?

White painted furniture is all the rage right now. This room certainly has adopted that trend along with the sunburst mirror, chinese garden stool, orange walls and graphic fabric patterns (from Corbis)

And finally…

The use of gold is everywhere. Brass nailhead trim, golden accents on lamp, gold tone in wallpaper..you will be seeing more and more of this in the upcoming season

How did you do?  Send me any photos you have of trends you spot and I will share them with everyone.
