Home Decor: The Nate Berkus Show

You do not have to be a fan of Oprah Winfrey to be familiar with her cutie pie decorator, Nate Berkus.  And the good news is that we can all have a piece of Nate now.  His new decorating show debuts on Monday, September 13th so check your local schedules.

Nate is famous for an earthy, uncluttered and eclectic look.  His inspiration comes from his travels around the world and his designs can easily be tailored to fit your own personal style and needs.  For example, I am sure Nate would approve of these earthy fabrics from Beacon Hill or the trendy colors found in these gray fabrics, all available at www.onlinefabricstore.com.

In most of Nate’s designs, function follows form.  This means that a piece used in the design of the room must be functional for the occupants.  For example, it would make no sense to use an expensive silk for your bedding if you have lots of furry four legged friends sharing your bed.  By the same token, little chocolate hands can ruin a hand embroidered pillow.  A durable chenille, rich leather or hardy suede or microfiber might be a better choice.

I think we can all learn from Nate’s approach to design and I know that his show is going to be a success.  And, if nothing else, I speak for myself when I say it will be worth  my time just to watch his sparkling blue eyes and winning smile for an hour each day.
