Now that you have taken stock of that sewing stash, it’s time to look at colors that you can use to update your stash and sew fashionable new spring outfits.

This year fashion designers are featuring new takes on favorite spring colors. Pantone’s annual Spring Color Report highlights ten fashion forward hues. Tender Shoots (a spring green), Lemon Zest ( a perky yellow) and African Violet (a lovely lavender) are delightfully fresh shades of the traditional pastels, while Emerald and Grayed Jade offer exciting new takes on green.  Subtle, but lively Grayed Jade blends well with many hues and can be used as an out of the ordinary neutral.

Poppy Red and Nectarine take us into the vibrant orange shades and will add excitement to your wardrobe or your decor.   Monaco Blue is a fresh new take on traditional Navy Blue, while Linen is a sophisticated, go with any shade neutral.

A wide range of looks are predicted to be popular this spring.  Dress lengths range from mini to below the ankle.  Straight, sleeveless body skimming styles will be popular, but so will feminine flared skirts and the ever classic A-line dress.

Shirt-style jackets are a popular look and many designers are featuring them in silks.   Jackets in rich embroidered fabrics are featured by the design team of Sachin and Babi.  For dressy occasions, simple jackets and boleros in embroidered organza are beautiful.  Lightweight sheers are great cover-ups for sleeveless, warm-weather fashions.
