Spring Patterns

Winter is not yet officially here, but the major sewing pattern companies are already looking forward to spring.  Simplicity has released its Early Spring 2013 Collection.  Some new looks for both women and children are featured.

This delightful ensemble from Simplicity’s Sew Stylish Collection features a flared dress with can be paired with a classic cardigan jacket.  The straight legged pants work well with the jacket and the collared peplum top.

This pattern is suitable for cotton, rayon, challis, lightweight wool,  and linen.  The dress and top can also be made in double georgette, crepe de chine, and sateen. The dress would look beautiful in Amy Butler or Joel Dewberry prints.  This versatile pattern is available in two multiple size editions: K5–size 8 through 16 and U5–16 through 24.  Multiple size patterns make it easier to fit a garment to your unique portions.  For example, if you have a smaller waist size than your hip size, you can use the smaller size for your waist and then taper the cutting lines out to the larger size for your hips.

This updated version of the classic A-line dress from the Simplicity’s Project Runway Collection  features a contrasting yoke and sleeves, a pleated skirt, and slant pockets.  Choose sleeveless, cap, or long sleeves and add your own design touches with the help of the pattern instructions.  The pattern is suitable for cottons, batiks, and linens and comes in two multiple sizes (D5–sizes 4, 6, 8,10, 12 and P5–sizes 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20).

If you have little girls to sew for, you will love the many delightful children’s dresses in Simplicity’s Early Spring 2013 Collection.  This baby shoe pattern is adorable.
