Would this work well for a historic (18th century) dress or would it be too flimsy?
A shopper on Sep 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: this is a much better weight than what I could get in the local fabric stores. I purchased it to line a vintage coat that I was making from a vintage pattern. It took the surging it took sewing on my heavy duty machine and it pressed well. Having sewn for 45 years I can honestly tell you that I think it would be a very good weight to make a long garment out of. I think it would hold pleasing and if you gathered it tight it would definitely have volume. I think it also might be worth spending a few dollars to get a sample sent to you. This way you could verify the color and feel it for yourself. I hope this helps
Is this fabric shinny on one side & mate on the back side?
Shelon C on Feb 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is not. If that's what you're looking for, you may be searching for crepe back satin: www.onlinefabricstore.net/product-group-satin.aspx?product=crepe-back-satin
