I ordered this a few years ago for a shade structure. It turned out great. Now I need to make a rainfly for our screen tent.

We looking for light weight, waterproof ripstop nylon to form individual shade shelters for temporary use. This suits our purposes and we are looking forward to the arrival of the material.

We are using this nylon for some drawstring sports bags. It is coated so I recommend you use a walking foot or put tissue paper over the coated side so your machine will feed the fabric evenly. I haven't found a better quality nylon anywhere else and the color is true.

I used this same fabric two years ago to make a shade for camping. Really like the fact that it is waterproof.

Can it be sewn on standard sewing machine?
A shopper on Nov 5, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I used my Brother quilter's machine which just sews a straight stitch. I was sewing this fabric to terry cloth which was a challenge and I had issues with missed stitches. I eventually went to a local sewing supplies store to get help picking the best combination of needle and thread. Once I had that, my project moved along smoothly.
Can this be used to make anti-theft quilted bags?
A shopper on Jun 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I made several large drawstring bags and had the best success using small clips instead of straight pins to hold the fabric together while sewing it with the walking foot on my machine. I would not quilt it, in the traditional sense of quilting, because every needle puncture weakens the ability to stop it from ripping. In addition, I added a zipper and a 'label' but found the fabric puckered easily.
would this work for a sling chair ?
A shopper on Oct 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This ripstop isn't rated for sling applications. You can find our slingable fabrics here:
www.onlinefabricstore.net/brand-phifertex.aspx

(The Phifertex Standard Solids are not slingable, but the rest of the Phiftex fabrics are.)

Response from OnlineFabricStore
Ripstop is used for many things where a lightweight, durable, waterproof fabric is needed, including jackets, sports bags, shade and rain shelters for camping, liners, camping hammocks, and children's parachutes (not the jumping out of an airplane kind!). If you're having trouble ordering, you can contact our customer service at either help@onlinefabricstore.net or 877-781-2967 Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm EST.
