Why did you choose this?
Can you iron this fabric? If so, on what setting do you recommend?
BEST ANSWER: I did steam iron this, but it does soften the fabric, and you must use a low setting, it is a base plastic even though the felt side is softer. I did use stitch-witcher on some of it, and it did fine, but nobody will be looking at that side anyway!
Would this lining be good to use to line faux silk drapes?
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I used this for faux silk panels, but I did add an additional layer of flannel lining to give them a very custom and heavier look. This is a good quality lining at a better price than a local store will charge.
I am looking for an extremely soft blackout lining. Anything stiff, just won't work. Is this Hanes White Eclipse Drapery Lining Fabric soft? (thank you)
BEST ANSWER: It's sturdy, but it made my drapes look very professional. They will not be free flowing--and if it was any thinner, it wouldn't blackout
Does this really have to be dry cleaned? I want to be able to wash them.
BEST ANSWER: One side is somewhat a felt feeling and the opposite is smooth plastic-like. It does wrinkle and when I pressed it, I had to be careful because it is a base plastic and you have to be careful. Steaming it with the iron was OK but I could tell that washing it would be a problem, and the wrinkles from being in a washer would be a bit much to press out. Your best bet is get a sample and try washing it how you'd do it, and see how it goes.
I line floor length drapes and short curtains in my Dad's room. I does darken the room as long as you cover more than the area of the window. As far as noise reduction--not so much.

good blackout lining
I've used this in several treatments requiring blackout lining. It cuts beautifully, sews up nicely and blocks 100% of the light. Great for sunny windows to prevent fading of fabrics or to darken a bedroom.
