Velvet Upholstery Fabric Product Guide

Velvet upholstery fabric is durable and strong which makes it perfect for upholstering chairs, sofas, and benches.

Cotton velvet by JB Martin comes in two varieties made with 100% cotton pile. Como velvet is very durable with 150,000 double rubs. Cannes velvet is similar to Como velvet but is not as durable and has a slub weave giving it a different texture.

Micro velvet, such as Bella velvet and Crypton Home, is 100% polyester with a woven backing. Micro velvet upholstery fabrics are very durable with 100,000 to 200,000 double rubs.

Crushed flocked velvet has a wrinkled texture that is fuzzy and soft. This velvet is great to use to give a piece of furniture more dimension. It’s also used for auto interiors, lining for music cases, jewelry packaging, and displays.

JB Martin Nevada Mohair Velvet is 100% mohair (angora goat hair) pile and has a rougher texture than other velvets.

BEST ANSWER: Cotton is less prone to static than polyester, so the JB Martin Cotton Upholstery Velvet may be the best option, but the Bella velvet would also work because the pile is lower than some of the others.
