Is weave density the difference in 5, 10, and 11 oz burlap? What has the tightest weave?
A shopper on Sep 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use this for my burlap curtains that I make. I just found this website and ordered 10 yards of this and I love it. it is better quality than you get in the stores. love love
For use in curtain panels, which weight/weave would you suggest to block more light?
A shopper on Oct 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We recommend Sultana Burlap for this purpose. It has the tightest weave and is also more refined than this natural burlap. It has a consistent look and feel and is sanitized to remove oils and reduce the odor.
How many yards would I need 2 make table cloth for a rectangular table sits 12 people?
A shopper on Sep 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I usually use 54-60 inch fabric for tablecloths, this will provide a good side drop for each side. Measure your table lengthwise and widthwise in inches. Using the width of your chosen fabric, determine how far the fabric will fall on the sides when centered on the table. This total fall for both sides, plus the measured length of the fully extended table, plus end seam allowances, will give you the amount of length required for your tablecloth fabric. Your measurements, totalled for length, divided by 36 inches will provide the necessary yardage. Be sure to either precondition your fabric before measuring, or allow extra in case of shrinkage, a few extra length in inches will not be significant if there is no shrinkage.
I will use for organic gardening, is this untreated?
A shopper on Apr 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It does not feel treated to me. I assume you mean like if it has some sort of finish to it. It's just raw burlap. I would be fine using it for your application.
How much burlap do I need to make a floor length tablecloth for a round table that is 3ft across and 28" tall?
A shopper on Dec 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: With this 40 inch wide burlap, you would need to seam together 3 pieces to have enough for the width. In this case, you would need 8 yards. But if you get this burlap in the 60 inch width, you would just need 6 yards because you would only need two pieces to make it wide enough.

It looks best if the seam isn't running down the middle, so you could have one 60 inch piece in the center, cut the other piece in half and sew them on either side of the larger piece.

How do you pre-shrink yardage of this and/or sultana burlap? What is the best way to get wrinkles and folds out of this and/or heavier burlaps? Thanks.
A shopper on May 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You'd only really need to preshrink burlap if you know you're going to be washing it. Hand washing would be best. You can iron out wrinkles if needed.

I need 300 pieces 6" x 12" how many yards of the tightest weave do I need? Please and thank you!
A shopper on Apr 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You can get 3 pieces out of the width if you cut them horizontally across the 40" width. You would need a total of 17 yards to get 300 pieces.

The burlap with the tightest weave is sultana burlap. It also has a more refined look than this natural burlap, which can have inconsistencies. If you go with the sultana burlap, you would need between 10 and 13 yards. (The width can vary a little between 59 and 60 inches. If the width is 60 inches, you can get 5 pieces out of the width and you would only need 10 yards.)

A shopper on Mar 28, 2017

Looking for a juke which one would use in rug hooking. What oz weave would one want. I saw the table juke online it looks like what one could use?
A shopper on Mar 16, 2017

I am needing to cover a floor for a children's play. 50' x 25', how much burlap would i need?
A shopper on Mar 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We suggest the 60" wide natural burlap so you don't need as many yards. Using the 60 inch, you would need 84 yards, but you might want to get a little extra. (Or a minimum of 125 yards for the 40 inch.)

I want to make a flat burlap curtain shade for my bathroom window in the natural color?
A shopper on Mar 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you want it to be opaque, you will need to line the burlap with a solid fabric muslin or osnaburg, as the weave of this burlap makes it fairly easy to see through from outside, especially at night with the light on in the bathroom. In addition, if you think that you will need to ever wash the shade, I would recommend using the Sultana burlap as it can be hand washed. As far as the quality of the natural burlap, at 10 ounces, it is quite sturdy and has a stable shape compared to lighter weight burlaps.
I hope this helps - good luck with your project! :)

I plan on making kitchen and dining room curtains with this fabric... probably a table runner question is, is it easy to sew? Also, how do I wash this fabric. Can it go in the machine on a gentle cycle, or do I need to wash by hand?
A shopper on Mar 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's easy to sew, but it does shed a lot, so you would want to clean your machine after sewing with it. We recommend hand washing burlap with cold water and a small amount of gentle detergent. Do not leave in water to soak. Rinse the fabric well and leave it to dry flat between two towels. For stains, blot the burlap (do not scrub or rub) with a wet sponge, blot up the water with a towel immediately after.
What is the best burlap for aisle runner at an outdoor wedding?
A shopper on Mar 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This natural burlap would work well at 40 inches wide. We also have burlap that is specifically meant for aisle runners:

36" x 100' Off White Burlap Aisle Runner
How many rolls will I need for an 8' by 8' wall?
A shopper on Feb 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: With this 40" burlap, you would need 8 yards, but that's cutting it close, so you might want to go with 9 yards for some wiggle room. With the 60" burlap, you would need 6 yards because it would only require 2 widths to cover the 8 feet instead of 3 widths.

I would like to wrap the base of an artificial tree and secure with twine. How many yards would it take?
A shopper on Feb 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We can't say for sure without seeing the size of the artificial tree, but 2 yards should be enough.
I want to make curtains with burlap that is open weave enough to be able to look through from inside...but somewhat block those who are walking by outside on the sidewalk. Do you have a good weight for this project and do you have a "muddy" sort of red? Also how wide would that product be and cost per yard.? thank you.
Julie L on Jan 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 5 oz burlap has an open weave like you are looking for, but it only comes in its natural color. Our color burlaps have a tighter weave, so you may not be able to see through as much as you would like. We don't have a muddy red color. Another option is to dye the 5 oz burlap with red rit dye. If you click on the images below, you can find the info on width and pricing. You can also order samples to see the weave and color of each.

BEST ANSWER: I use it for stenciling letters and silhouettes. Works well. Make sure your stencil is really secure. I use freezer paper. I wouldn't do any really intricate design.
I am looking for burlap without any chemicals added. Is this product free of them?
A shopper on Jan 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This burlap is hydrocarbon free which means it was made with vegetable oil instead of petroleum-based mineral oil. It won't have the kerosene-like odor that other burlap can have. (Though jute still has an odor of its own!)

Some good, some bad.
The first time I ordered the burlap, it was great. I used it to make pillows and it was just as smooth flowing as could be. And I was happy about getting to order more at a great price, made sure to check the stock number and everything to make sure it was the same as I had ordered. The next time I ordered, it was a bit of a different color and has had a lot of lumped up lines in it which have been extremely difficult to get out. I've managed to get some out but I've also had to just cut out a few sections while I cut my squares. It also had about an 8 inch cut in it about a yard or two after I started unrolling it- I got 32 yards so it was rolled on a cardboard spool like. I was disappointed this time.
That's the lumpy lines-those are not wrinkles.

It's noted in the details that "this is an imported, natural product and could possibly be ink stamped in some areas, have seams, or other inconsistencies." This product is not intended for decorative purposes, though many people use it that way. For decorative use, we suggest our color burlap (available in natural shades), which is refined and consistent:
