Why did you choose this?
Understand that Pirelli stopped making this product some time ago, therefore, what is date of manufacture of your stock of this 2" wide strapping? Do you also have the compatible size grippers to fit the narrow slots in wood frames, as one needs 2 per replacement strap? If so, does one require a special tool to squeeze tightly?
BEST ANSWER: This rubber webbing is newly manufactured. We carry the metal clips that are compatible for furniture that has the slots in the wood frame. The clips can be closed with a vice or a vice grip. Yes, you would need 2 clips per strap. For people who's furniture doesn't have the slots for the metal clips, the webbing can be stapled or tacked to the frame.
Which side of webbing should be at top I noticed there is a smooth side and a ruff side?
BEST ANSWER: I used the webbing with the rough side up to help grip the cushion on top. I don't think it matters for performance of the webbing.
the old webbing measures 1.5 inches wide. is 1.5 inch webbing available? or would it have shrunk 1/2 inch over the years?
BEST ANSWER: It's common for this rubber webbing to shrink over time, so it was probably the same width originally. Also, this webbing is approximately 2 inches, so it could be a little under that.
My old strapping has stretched. How long should I cut the new straps? Just the width between the slots plus the length of the webbing clips or should I stretch the new strap some when placing it into the slots in the chair?
BEST ANSWER: I've read a good rule of thumb is to measure from slot to slot and add 1 inch for each clip on each end. For example, if you measure 18" slot to slot, add 2" (1 inch for each end) meaning you need a 20" piece of rubber webbing. I'm about to try this and will report back after with results.
do I need to use a webbing stretcher with this webbing?
BEST ANSWER: Depends on how tight you need it. I made my own stretcher with two 1/2 inch wide plywood strips held together by 2 bolts with wing nuts. Clamped it over the strap and used it to pull while wife put metal clip into the slot.
Can this be used like a gigantic rubber band? Or is it not that type of elastics?
BEST ANSWER: It has some stretch, just enough for the purpose of furniture webbing. It's not nearly as stretchy as a rubber band.
Is it waterproof?
BEST ANSWER: We wouldn't recommend exposing this rubber webbing to water. Polypropylene webbing is best for use with water.
Is this webbing sold in any stores ? What about the clips. ?
BEST ANSWER: Don't know, bought on line. Did not use clips.
Do you also sell the rubber. Webbing clips ? What do the clips look like. If you do sell them . Are they about. Two inches long and. Rather flat ?
BEST ANSWER: Yes, we sell clips like you describe.
I have some older deck chairs whose seat webbing was attached by: 1) inserting the tip (cut to point) of the rubber strap into a slot on the metal frame, 2) wrapped around that end to hold it in then, 3) strung across and wrapped around the other end with the other end pointed off and stuck in a slot on the other side of the frame. There are no clips to hold it in, just the wound over layer. Will this product work in this sort of set-up and how would I determine the length needed? I read somewhere to measure what you need on the chair then stretch the webbing as far as you can and mark of that distance plus 10%. Doeas that sould reasonable with this product? Thanks for the help...I've got five to do that have lost most of there webbing due to age.
BEST ANSWER: This product works great in the older chair we have. I measured the old pieces and just added some extra. I was so glad to find this product as I love this chair and we afraid we wouldn't ever find anything to fix it.
Does this stretch both ways?
BEST ANSWER: It definitely stretches more length wise than width wise.
Asking my question again now that I have an account. I was taken directly to a login screen after submitting my question. I need four 18" straps (6'). Are you able to cut the straps for me? I tried cutting the old strap with a box cutter--not happening. Glad to pay extra for the extra handling.
BEST ANSWER: It should cut fine with regular scissors. You can contact our customer service to see if we can cut the pieces. Contact them at either email@example.com or 877-781-2967 Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm EST.
Is Pirelli rubber webbing the same product as Evan's premium upholsterer's webbing?
BEST ANSWER: Yes, Evan's now owns Pirelli, but it is the same thing.
does pirelli make different quality grades of uphostorey webbing?
BEST ANSWER: No, there's just this one.
Is this good for patio chairs?
BEST ANSWER: I bought this for a small indoor couch. I'm not sure the rubber would hold up on outside furniture.
I am interested in this for it's spring like qualities, can it be used to bind 2 objects, resist separation of such objects and then return if they are separated and the force acting upon them is released?
BEST ANSWER: This item is suitable for furniture. It's designed to take the place of springs. It's flexible, will stretch, and come back to its original shape.
If this webbing is so good, why have they stopped making it?
What is current eta for pirelli webbing straps availability?
I need a 10' roll, does a bag of clips come with the roll?
What is the thickness of the strap? I am trying to replace some rubber straps for a respirator. The existing straps are 1/2" by about 1/16-. I am willing to cut the width if it might work.
I need straps and clips that 1 3/4", does that exist?
Affordable and easy to work with. I looked up "how to" on you tube. It took about 15 min to do the job!

Pirelli Rubber Webbing Review
This product arrived on time and appears to be very sturdy material. We need to replace the seat webbing in a rocking chair we have had for some time and this product fits the bill. It was pretty easy to use along the with clips provided.

This pirelli rubber way outlasted the rubberized fabric alternative that was used on some of our 1985 chairs.
