Why did you choose this?
Does it fade?
BEST ANSWER: Since this is an outdoor fabric, it is fade resistant, but it will still slowly fade over time, especially if left in direct sunlight frequently.
Is this a vertical or horizontal fabric. Also is it appropriate for upholstry for my indoor couches.?
BEST ANSWER: The stripes are vertical (parallel to the selvage edges). This outdoor fabric can absolutely be used on indoor furniture, but just be aware that it's a little stiffer than typical indoor fabric. With 15,000 double rubs, this fabric is suitable for most upholstery applications. See this article for more information:
i'd like to make sturdy tote bags with - so I'm curious about the weight of this fabric?
BEST ANSWER: This is a medium weight fabric that's heavier than a quilting weight fabric, but not as heavy as an upholstery fabric. It would work well for totes. We recommend ordering a sample to be sure that it will work for your project. If you need it to be stiffer, you could add an interfacing or stabilizer, like Pellon #809 Decor Bond Fusible Stabilizer.
I'm a bit new to this. How wide is each stripe? Do the stripes run the width of the fabric or the length?
BEST ANSWER: Each stripe is 2 inches wide. (Look at the repeat measurement to get a sense of scale. This measures the distance before the pattern starts repeating itself. With a this stripe the 4 inch horizontal repeat includes one navy stripe and one white stripe, making each stripe 2 inches.) The strips run the length, so in the photo, the selvedge edges would be on the left and right sides of the image.
