How you use it?
BEST ANSWER: Use Rit Fixative after dyeing but before rinsing. There are two ways to do this. You can mix it with water and soak the fabric in it, or put it in a spray bottle and spray the fixative directly on it. Either way, let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing. I bought a batik blouse and it runs. Can I use this fixative to stop it from bleeding?
BEST ANSWER: It probably won't work on fabric that is already dyed, especially store bought items.
How much dye fixative do I need?
BEST ANSWER: Use 8 tablespoons of Color Stay Dye Fixative for every pound of dry fabric, which is half a bottle.
I need to dye bird feathers that will be used in bootineers. Any suggestions on the use of the fixative with feathers?
BEST ANSWER: Putting the fixative in a spray bottle and misting the feathers with it would likely work best.

BEST ANSWER: Unlike fixatives for some types of dye which you can make with soda ash, the fixative for Rit dye cannot be made by hand.
