Can it be used on carpet?
A shopper on Sep 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi, we would not recommend for use on carpet, but it may be possible to spot dye at your own risk. First of all, the carpet needs to be cotton, wool, or nylon. Many carpets have a protective finish to prevent staining, which could prevent the dye from working properly.
What are the directions for use?
A shopper on Dec 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Directions are on bottle. Different ways to dye. I use sink method. Hot tap water with dye in sink. Soak fabric then I dry in dryer. Very easy to use that way. I found 1 bottle with 3 gallons of water works best fior color I want.
can this be used on suede shoes?
A shopper on Oct 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Rit doesn't recommend dyeing leather, so the same would likely apply to suede:

I want to dye white jeans/capris an off- white or cream - any suggestions? I'm not seeing any dye that color. Thanks
A shopper on Apr 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you just use a small amount of this tan color, you'll get an off-white. Use a little bit of lemon yellow too for a creamier color. Take a look at this color guide by Rit to get a better sense of how much to use: www.ritstudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Rit_FavoriteColors_2000_FINAL.pdf
will this work on satin shoes?
A shopper on Feb 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it's possible to dye satin shoes with this dye, but only if its silk satin, not polyester satin.

My pants are a faded khaki will this dye restore color?
A shopper on Jan 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, as long as the pants are made out of a natural material, like cotton, this dye should work for that purpose. There is also a taupe color that's a little more muted, but either would work for khaki.

Would this product work on cloth convertible car top tan color with a black glass sealer stain? ?
A shopper on Nov 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Most likely not. It would probably have a coating on it that would prevent the dye from absorbing.

Can I dye navy blue into beige?
A shopper on Oct 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Dye will only make things darker and it won't cover the old color, so no, it would not work in this case.
Will a 52.5% cotton 47.5% poly. hoodie dye well?
A shopper on Sep 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Since it is a cotton/poly blend, the cotton portion of the fibers will dye, but the polyester will not. This will result in the color being lighter than if the fabric were 100% cotton. If you want a lighter, less saturated color, this dye will work, but otherwise you will most likely not get the results you want.

Update: We now carry Rit DyeMore, which works on polyester and other synthetic fibers.
Can i use on rubber?
A shopper on Sep 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: While rubber is not a recommended use for Rit dye, but it may or may not work depending on the specific rubber. Some rubber does dye well, some dyes slightly, and some not at all.
My dress is a 60/40 cotton polyester blend with a 100 % polyester slip, should I use the synthetic dye product?
A shopper on Sep 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, using a dye that works on synthetic fabrics would get the best results. The cotton/poly blend part of the dress will dye with Rit dye, but it will be lighter than if you dyed 100% cotton. The cotton part of the blend will accept the dye and the polyester will not. But it will not work on the slip.

Update: We now carry Rit DyeMore, which works on polyester and other synthetic fibers.
