Why did you choose this?
does it off-gas?
BEST ANSWER: It should not. We recommend ordering a sample to be sure that it will work for your project.
Does this fabric have almost like a suede type backing? I've used one before that when I used an iron on it it caused the fabric to basically shrink up.
BEST ANSWER: This drapery lining doesn't have a suede-like backing. You can use either the white or ivory side facing out. We recommend ordering a sample if you want to get a better sense of the fabric.
Hi I'm in the middle of a renovation and just want something I can make quick to cut down on some heat costs this winter. I'm probably not going to be able to get my sewing machine out the moving box till spring. Would this fray if left with a raw edge or would iron on no sew heming tape be sufficient for the time being? Many Thanks for your help.
BEST ANSWER: It would fray a bit, you could use hemming tape or fray check to keep the frays from worsening.
What exactly is in the blackout material ? I need to be sure it is all natural—no chemicals used.
BEST ANSWER: We have a few articles about different types of drapery linings available. I will attach them below. Hopefully that will help you narrow down your options.
will this keep the sunlight out for sleeping during the day? Can I use this alone to cover a window and close my blinds over it?
BEST ANSWER: This lining fabric is very good for room darkening. It is also durable and weighty. I have never used it as anything but lining material, but I think it would work for your situation.
I need drapery lining for a thin cotton fabric. I see this is 54" wide. Can I turn it to use the width for the length and just order two 44" Long pieces to sew on to my two 44" wide x 52" L panels?
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is possible to use the length of this fabric as the width for your project. You'd just need to calculate how many yards you'd need.
Is this 100% blackout?
BEST ANSWER: I have used this on several roman shades and draperies and have been very pleased with the blackout results. I would say, "yes" it is 100% blackout in my opinion.
What is the widest black out lining you stock?
BEST ANSWER: Hanes Apollo Drapery Lining in white or black is 60 inches wide. The rest of the blackout linings are 54 inches wide.
Great fabric! It has a dense heavy feel. You can see the sew lines though, even if you use the exact same thread. There is a dark inner center, white on one side natural on the other, and the center pushes through with the needle. Definitely does the job though!
