I have lupus and cannot be in the sun. This lining totally blocks the sun. I know it says dry clean only but I washed a piece of it several times in the washing machine and dried in the dryer and it came out perfect.

I have used it before and was very please with the quality and how much light is blocks out.
SIERRA S on Jun 13, 2018
This is a substantial weight blackout lining that I use in bedroom drapery panels. It is very easy to sew, irons up beautifully and hangs well. Clients have been very pleased with how the lining blocks the sun, darkens their bedroom and completely stops the fabrics from fading even in direct sunlight. Great product I've used over and over again.

I use behind curtains and drapes to make them black out. Excellent price and product. If you don't want permanent black out (or if you don't want to sew) then use pins to tack the fabric to the upper back side of your curtains.

Which side of the white black out lining should face the sun?
A shopper on Jan 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: the cotton side is always outside, the rubber side is always inside
does the rubber backing have any out-gasing odors?
A shopper on Mar 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi. I sewed window shades with this in the summer. I do not recall ogg-gasing when the product was new and it is certainly does not have that characteristic now. Good question.
I know that they make this in a 110" width is that available through you?
A shopper on Sep 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We may be able to obtain the 110" width for you in a large enough quantity. Please contact our customer service so that they can assist you. help@onlinefabricstore.net
Is it thick?
A shopper on Nov 5, 2016

Is this blackout fabric insulated?
A shopper on Sep 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is insulating.
It says dry cleaning recommended, but I know it will never make it to the cleaners. Can it be washed?
Muriel L on Jul 10, 2018

Does this black out lining require any special sewing techniques or needle?
A shopper on Jan 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have only used a regular needle on a sewing machine with a standard straight stitch. I do usually run the machine a little slower since the fabric is relatively thick.
can you hand stitch it to curtains ?
A shopper on Mar 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It's a little thick but you should be able to.
Hi, I am needing to make some curtains for 10 ft tall windows that are 6 ft wide. I was going to make 2 panels per window so that would be 3.33 yards in length per panel and 1 yard per width per panel, correct? And I have 3 windows to do..so I would need 20 yards ..maybe 22 to be safe right?
A shopper on Jan 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, 22 yards would be good because you'll have to add extra for the headers and hems. Generally, curtains should be between 1.5 to 3 times the width of the window, depending on how full you want the curtains to look. If you use the full 54" width of this fabric per panel, that would give you 9 feet of total width per window, which would work because that's 1.5 times the width of the window.
can i put drapery lining on the back of bamboo patio blinds? yes it is a question
A shopper on Nov 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It may interfere with the way the blinds roll up due to thickness.

Is this truely blackout? I've bought some Roclon before that claimed to be blackout, and it's just room darkening.
DIANA K on Aug 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It makes the room pretty dark on a very sunny day. Not like nighttime but would help a sleeper sensitive to bright sunshine. And it makes the room cooler by blocking hot sunshine.

A shopper on Jul 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This fabric weighs 0.85 lbs./yd.

BEST ANSWER: We only sell it in the 54" width, but it can easily be sewn together.
This blackout fabric seems to be about the same as multi purpose cloth. I wanted to use as a lining and print on it for my tote bags. Could I use this instead, it is much more affordable?
A shopper on Apr 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We don't see why not, although this fabric isn't really meant for that purpose.
Can this fabric be hung by suction hooks on a glass window?
A shopper on Mar 9, 2017

A shopper on Dec 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: We recommend dry clean only for this fabric.

It says dry cleaning recommended. I want to be able to wash these drapes, as the faux silk I am lining is washable. What happens to this fabric if you wash them? I would hang them to dry.

Excellent quality but the white I ordered is a little bit too cool on the spectrum. Would go for ivory or cream next time.
