can you hand stitch it to curtains ?
A shopper
on Mar 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: IF you are making café curtains or anything that will slide through the rod, be sure to sew the blackout below the rod pocket, otherwise it will be too thick to either slide open/closed, or you won't be able to get your ruffles at the top to stand up nicely.

Does this black out lining require any special sewing techniques or needle?
A shopper
on Jan 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have only used a regular needle on a sewing machine with a standard straight stitch. I do usually run the machine a little slower since the fabric is relatively thick.

I sewed it as if it were cotton. You will get tracks of pin holes that let light through but that's rather charming.

Is this truely blackout? I've bought some Roclon before that claimed to be blackout, and it's just room darkening.
BEST ANSWER: It makes the room pretty dark on a very sunny day. Not like nighttime but would help a sleeper sensitive to bright sunshine. And it makes the room cooler by blocking hot sunshine.

It says dry cleaning recommended, but I know it will never make it to the cleaners. Can it be washed?
BEST ANSWER: really depends what the face fabric is- the lining by itself could be washed- if you chose to was it I recommend delicate or hand wash- Hope this helps

I would never wash this lining. I would vacuum the drapes or hang outside and let a nice breezy take care of the dust or airing out.

Hi, I am needing to make some curtains for 10 ft tall windows that are 6 ft wide. I was going to make 2 panels per window so that would be 3.33 yards in length per panel and 1 yard per width per panel, correct? And I have 3 windows to do..so I would need 20 yards ..maybe 22 to be safe right?
A shopper
on Jan 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, 22 yards would be good because you'll have to add extra for the headers and hems. Generally, curtains should be between 1.5 to 3 times the width of the window, depending on how full you want the curtains to look. If you use the full 54" width of this fabric per panel, that would give you 9 feet of total width per window, which would work because that's 1.5 times the width of the window.

Excellent quality but the white I ordered is a little bit too cool on the spectrum. Would go for ivory or cream next time.

Great!
I am delighted with this my first fabric purchase online - blackout fabric was not available to me locally and when I searched by the brand name online, I located it easily, ordered in the car on the way home from the local store(I was a passenger, rather than the driver) received timely and really like the weight, texture & how easily I could work with it to line my first two panels - it blocks light well - i’m very satisfied with this purchase

Excellent Blackout Lining
I highly recommend this product. Easy to work with and no light gets through it. Perfect for lining the Roman shades I made for the bedroom. Even seems to be somewhat insulating now that the weather is turning colder.
