Upholstery velvet is a strong fabric that provides a luxurious look. Our selection includes cotton upholstery velvet and polyester micro velvet by trusted brands like Crypton Home and JB Martin. These sumptuous fabrics are perfect for making velvet headboards, velvet sofas, and velvet upholstered benches.
Denim fabric is a popular choice for casual upholstery and slipcovers. It’s a medium to heavy weight cotton fabric with a diagonal twill weave that is tear resistant. Bull denim fabric is dyed after being woven, producing uniformly colored fabrics. Classic washed denim is the heaviest option and is woven with two colors of thread for that classic denim look.
Vinyl upholstery fabric is extremely durable and easy to clean. It’s great for upholstering stool and dining chair seats, headboards, and armchairs. Outdoor and marine vinyl can be used for patio furniture, boats, and car upholstery. Our selection includes vinyl by Nassimi and Spradling, as well as Ultrafabrics® pvc-free faux leather.
Faux suede is a soft fabric with a short nap made out of polyester. Microsuede can be used for light décor projects like headboards, ottomans, and throw pillows. This lightweight faux suede has a supple texture that is comfortable without being as plush as velvet. It’s easy to work with because it doesn’t fray and sews beautifully.
Linen is a classic fabric that looks great in many décor styles. Heavier weight linen like our selection of Belgian linen and European linen can be used for upholstery and slipcovers. Linen is made from the flax plant and is both durable and breathable. It’s great for chairs, couches, ottomans, and headboards.
Outdoor upholstery fabric is water, stain, mildew, and UV resistant, making it perfect for patios, porches, and other outdoor spaces. You’ll find prints in fun tropical, beach, and nautical themes, as well as classic stripes and solids. Popular brands include Sunbrella and Tommy Bahama. Outdoor vinyl and Phifertex vinyl coated polyester are also great for outdoor applications.
Natural burlap is conventionally used in the construction of upholstered furniture and is available in several weights. Sagless burlap is very tightly woven and is traditionally used for support when upholstering high-end furniture. While the rustic look of burlap is very popular, it is not recommended for sitting on because of its rough texture. However, it can be used decoratively on the exterior backs and sides of furniture.
Ticking is a strong, functional fabric traditionally used to cover pillows and mattresses filled with down and feathers because its tight weave does not allow feathers to poke through. Ticking is available in white, natural, or with a recognizable stripe pattern that is often used decoratively in country décor styles.
Dust cloth is a lightweight fabric that is tacked or stapled to the underside of chairs and other furniture to cover the springs, webbing, or cushioning. Deck cover, also referred to as decking or platform cloth, is used in upholstery projects as a platform under the seat cushion. Since it won’t be seen when the cushions are added, it’s a less expensive option than using upholstery fabric on the deck.
Marine vinyl by Nassimi and Spradling is perfect for upholstering boat seats and cushions because it’s very durable and stands up well to weather and sun. Marine-grade vinyl has UV protection to prevent the color from fading in sunlight. Antibacterial and antifungal additives make it mildew resistant.
