This single filled flat duck comes in a heavy duty 12 ounce weight that is the perfect vehicle for hard working projects like tarps, awnings, and bags that can stand up to quite a beating! Flat duck is a type of canvas with a plain, flat weave. It derives its name from the Dutch word “Doek” which means “linen canvas”. As it grew in popularity, it also grew in variety! This 12 ounce version is stiff and undyed, for a beautiful natural look that can offer an attractive finished product while performing its duties with ease. A rough texture adds to this versatile fabric's all around aesthetic appeal.

What does single filled flat duck mean and what are the implications of undyed fabric? Thnx!
A shopper on Sep 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Single fill ducks only have 1 yarn in the weft as opposed to numbered ducks which have 2 in the weft. This fabric is unfinished and undyed after being woven. In this state, it is ideal to be painted, dyed, finished, etc. however you want.
I'm looking to make a tent for the bed of my truck, is this a good fabric for that use?
A shopper on Sep 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes this fabric could work for that purpose. However, you may find a water repellent duck fabric to be more appropriate as it would be more weather resistant.

A shopper on May 25, 2017

Would this be a good choice for reupholstering a reading Chair?
A shopper on Mar 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it's a good weight. It does have a bit of a rough texture because it is raw canvas, but washing it will soften it up. Just keep in mind that washing will also make it shrink. We recommend ordering a sample to be sure that it will work for your project.
What is the best duck cloth to cover dining room chair seats? I'm confused by all the products available.
A shopper on Mar 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We have a canvas product guide (cotton duck is the same thing as canvas) that may help: www.onlinefabricstore.net/makersmill/canvas-fabric/

The 12 oz, the 10 oz, or the #12 would all work. The difference between the numbered ducks and ducks with weights in ounces is explained in the guide. If you are unsure, we recommend ordering samples.

A shopper on Apr 19, 2017

Good weight for making a tent?
A shopper on Aug 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I purchased this canvas to use for oil painting and it stretches
nice and tight when primed. I would not think it to be useful for
a tent because of its high cotton content; the first rain and it would shrink.
I would think some sort of water proof canvas would work better for a tent.
Does it shrink alot?
A shopper on Jun 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It shrank considerably. I can't remember how much but I want to say around 6 inches per yard. It was a very nice weight and washed well but even though i cut overages, it came out smaller than I hoped. If you can, wash before you cut. I had too much yardage to do that but it was still workable for my project. Hope that helps you out!
