Holiday Dresses for Little Girls

Over this past Thanksgiving, my cousin had asked me to make Christmas dresses for his little twin girls who are 11 months old. Of course I was excited to make them and was even more excited about how they came out! Even though these were for Christmas, you can choose different fabrics and colors for different holidays. Heck, it doesn't even have to be a holiday if they're fashionistas, right? 🙂 Check out the photos below to see what it took and what was used to make these cute dresses!

Materials

The dresses were made out of black petticoat netting, cranberry satin,  red crushed stretch velvet, and 1.5" wide black satin ribbon for the sash.

For dresses this size, it takes a 1/2 yard of each fabric (depending on the width) to complete the dresses.

I used a pattern that I created for theses dresses during the design process to help gauge the size (especially the top) for a great fit.

I didn't need to use a zipper because the velvet stretched enough to pull over their heads. The petticoat netting gives it a nice flare to the skirt portion without being too much. You can also use charmeuse, taffeta, rosette satin, cotton, and organza. It took me about 3 hours to finish both dresses, and I'm happy with how they came out 🙂
