Why did you choose this?
i use wheelchair cushions and thought I would make my own. I want to cut out a ischial section so not to have pressure on the boney area. I need a high density foam so not to bottom out when seated. I noticed your Mountain Mist Smart Foam - 22" x 22" x 4". what would your recommendations be? thank you kevin
BEST ANSWER: You could technically use this foam as a wheelchair cushion, but may find that a high density upholstery foam would be much more comfortable for daily use. If 4" thickness and 24" width is what you're looking for, I'd recommend this 2" x 24" x 54" High Density upholstery foam. You can cut it half length-wise, use a spray adhesive to attach the 2 pieces together on top of one another to achieve the 4" thickness, and cut out an ischial section (this foam can easily be cut with a serrated knife). Overall, I think you'd benefit more comfort-wise from the upholstery foam rather than the poly cushion. If you find the thickness is not doing enough for you in terms of bottoming out, you could go up in size (we carry high density foam in 24" x 54" all the way up to 6" thick).
I have a recliner that is an oldie but goodie! It needs more support in the seat cushion. The leather cover zips off. 4 inch by 22x22 would fit. Will this give enough support and not be as hard as a rock?
What is the best way to cut it?
BEST ANSWER: You could use very sharp scissors or a serrated knife.
