BEST ANSWER: Good morning, I use this fabric to make custom sized down/feather pillows. I've also used it to make down/feather pillow tops on foam cushions. You can use this fabric in a number of ways. It's a very good featherproof fabric. Hope this helps. Good luck with your project.
Would this be a good fabric for making a down comforter? Is it lightweight enough to keep the loft of the down? Is it soft enough?
BEST ANSWER: No this is not a soft fabric. This is stiff like muslin or canvas and it doesn’t bend or give easily. The purpose of this fabric is to keep down feathers from poking through. It’s not lightweight and generally used for down sofa cushions. I used it as a cover/pillowcase to encase a down pillow for the back of my loveseat when the feathers started poking through the pillowcase and the chenille sofa fabric. I sewed a new pillowcase from this material and stuffed the entire pillow with its current pillowcase into it in order to make sure the feathers would stay inside. Then I stuffed that into the chenille pillow cover. It’s been 2 years and rarely does a feather pop out. Personally I think this would be too heavy and stiff for a comforter.
is this tubing? for pillow cases with only one seam
BEST ANSWER: This is not tubing. Just flat fabric
Is this fabric soft enough to sit on?
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It’s basically like muslin or cotton duck. But it’s usually used as a fabric cover for a feather pillow that you will put another pillowcase on. I used it to make a pillowcase for the big feather pillow of my loveseat. Then I slipped the entire thing into the velvet fabric of the loveseat. This fabric stops the feathers from poking through.
Is this available in white or is the color actually creme?
BEST ANSWER: This is a natural cream color, but it is available in white.
Is it recommended to wash the fabric first prior to cutting the pattern for the down feather insert?

these are great to cover my down pillows before I stuff them in the decorative pillow case. These are keeping the pesky feathers from poking out and therefore maintaining their integrity and my sanity. I needed other larger sizes that they didn't carry so I had to purchase those from etsy. My only advice is to add other larger square sizes.
