I have been blessed with designing my lovely niece's wedding. I love how cotton scrim adds drama to a venue, especially when you add clear lights behind it. The budget being tight makes this an excellent choice, as well. Thank you all for your quick shipping!

what weight is this fabric?
A shopper on Feb 21, 2017
does this come in a roll or box? It's for very long curtains (113"). Will this work
A shopper on Dec 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This scrim comes on a roll, orders 500 yards and under will come in one continuous piece.
Dose this fabric stretch?
A shopper on Apr 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: From our experience it does not stretch, but be sure to buy extra if plan on washing as it will shrink.
ls this like harem cloth? What is the difference?
A shopper on Mar 26, 2018

I’m not sure just what Harlem cloth looks like. This is very sheer and has a definite cross hatching design for the weaving. I’m using it as a base for making doll hats. I will either put layers of it criss crossed or put a layer of felt over it and stiffen then both. It certainly it isn’t a stable cloth at all, more for using as a base or even gathering many widths of it and you could use it as curtains. If you needed a harem veil, this is soft enough to make one. Write more of what you want to do with it and I should be able to help in a better fashion.
I have two questions if you don't mind.
I'm considering this fabric to make a DJ facade with, is this good material for this application?
I'd like light to be able to pass through it.

And second question.
The fabric is sixty inches wide by how ever many yards are purchased correct?
A shopper on Nov 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes and yes.
could this be dyed evenly, or could you dye the heavier weight gauze?
A shopper on Aug 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This could be dyed, you'd just need to be sure to remove all air bubbles in your dye bath.
Is this good fabric for making an underslip?
A shopper on May 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, it is too thin and fragile. I would use a high quality batiste cotton for an underslip. It is used more like a beginning surface for hat making or for very thin curtains.
Is this fabric close to cheesecloth?
A shopper on Oct 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It is not quite as loose a weave as cheesecloth, but is definitely not opaque, and more translucent than not. I used it to dress up a panel of casement windows where I wanted filtered light but not an opaque treatment. I doubled the fabric at the top and used a wide 15” hem and it still allows filtered light through.
is this see through ?
A shopper on Aug 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it is definitely sheer. I am using it for doll hat base fabric. It is more like a sheer drapey fabric. I suppose that you could line it, but it doesn’t hold its shape really well, so that might be difficult. If you want an opaque fabric, this isn’t a good choice.
Is this good for making handkerchiefs? I am looking embroider on it for wedding
A shopper on Jun 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This fabric is a little crisp with a close gauze-like weave. I bought it for primitive doll clothing, for which it is perfect. I do not think it is would be an appropriate choice for a handkerchief. It is neither soft nor romantic And, being like gauze, the fabric could stretch with embroidery.. However, it is excellent for other purposes.
Is this fabric appropriate as a wedding backdrop that is soft looking and can puddle nicely on the floor?
A shopper on Mar 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes! We recommend ordering a sample to be sure that it will work for your project.
Can this fabric be used for outdoor curtains for a porch? Is it durable enough for the beach sun?
A shopper on Feb 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The fabric is extremely light weight. It would work great for outdoor curtains but would not last more than a season or two in wind, rain and weather.
Is scrim fabric flame treated with flame retardant?
A shopper on Jul 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is not. If you require FR treatment, contact customer service as we may be able to assist you.
Is this washable?
Janet T on Jul 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I used it to decorate for plays and the prom in the high school at which I work. I did not wash it but I imagine from working with it that it would wash well. It would probably make it softer, although it believe that it will shrink quite a bit as well.
I’m. Looking to create a evening shall thatt I want to machine embroider rose flowers and leaves on vines
To it. Will it be able to hold up for this type of application?
Eileen B on Jun 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I don’t think it is stiff enough to hold the embroidery. This fabric is pretty flimsy and opaque.
Does this fabric take ink well? Is it able to be printed on or painted on?
A shopper on Apr 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We did not try to use ink or paint. I imagine from handling it that it would need a resist if painting because it would run.
what is meant by construction 44x36 ?
A shopper on Feb 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Construction is the type of weave, how the threads go with relation to each other.
I have 100% silk dress Im making & I need to line, would this work or do you recomend something else?
A shopper on Jan 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The weave on this fabric may be too open for a lining. If you want a very lightweight cotton, we'd suggest cotton lawn. If you want to stick with silk, silk habotai is a good lining material. We recommend ordering a sample or two to see what will work best for your project.

A shopper on Jun 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is not.
Hi, we want to use this fabric, or something solf and airy to make drapes for our canopy bed. Will this work?
A shopper on Mar 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Probably! I think a chiffon material will hang better though. It's pretty cotton and gauze like.
Is scrim the same as hareem cloth? Or very similar?
A shopper on Mar 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It looks pretty similar.
Want to make for a scrim for shadow dancing 30wx10' would this work?
A shopper on Mar 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This scrim is only 60" wide so you would need to sew a few panels together to get your desired size, but this fabric is perfect for that kind of thing!
What does scrim mean? I am looking for a looser weave cotton to make wool quilts. I card the raw wool the n quilt the wool between a light weight cotton then cover these quilts in a flannel duvet. I like a looser weave so it will be light weight and breathable.
A shopper on Feb 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Scrim has a loose weave and may be what you're looking for. We recommend ordering a sample to be sure that it will work for your project.

Does the job
I purchased this as a substitute for harem cloth that my regular supplier was out of. It's a little rough for scarves, but with a professional liquid fabric softener I was able to remedy that for the most part. All in all it's a nice, light gauze.
